My name is Eric Levy, and I am your 2019 Atlantic Conference on Public Administration Chair. The vision for this years’ ACPA conference is to have a conference that not only encompasses an environment of learning, but also one of sharing. As I used to tell my students “You can learn as much from each other as you can from me” I hope to keep that belief and have it set the tone for the 2019 ACPA.
I am currently in the second year of the Master of Public Administration program at Dalhousie University. During my first year, most of my research areas have focused on Nova Scotia. I have a particular interests in rural development, youth and professional retention, and intermunicipal relations. From my coursework, I have become particularly interested in Human Resources, and Municipal Financial Management.
I was very fortunate to be selected for this position. I applied to be the Chair of ACPA for a number of reasons. First, I wanted to be part of something that I truly feel has a large impact on the landscape of our region. Having attended ACPA 2018, it was very evident that people come to this conference with a vigor and enthusiasm to better our region. I am honoured to have the opportunity to facilitate this platform in 2019 with the great team of people on the organizing committee.
I feel that ACPA has a great potential to bridge gaps between silos. I hope to help create and foster an environment for this years conference where students can easily confer with professionals, where interdepartmental communication is encourages, where we can learn, inspire, and enact.
I very much look forward to meeting each of you at this years’ conference, and please stay tuned to the website and this years’ conference might be a little different from the rest.
Have a great day!
